Simple Presentation Skills Tips
A few tips to help the beginner give their 60 sec presentation.
1. Do spread eye contact around the room but avoid too much eye contact with one or two people, especially if he/she is good looking. Others will notice.
2. Do look up from time to time while reading a script. This requires knowing the script well so you don’t lose your place and get flustered.
3. Smile. It is very seductive to an audience.
4. Avoid looking at your shoes. It shows fear and a a feeling of insecurity.
5. Failure to make any eye contact is shifty and might suggest to don’t believe your script.
6. Avoid looking at the ceiling, it suggests haughtiness.
7. Avoid burying your head in a script - that looks inept.
8. Avoid looking out the window. The audience will assume that is where you want to be.
9. Emphasise points with tonality and variations of speed of delivery.
10. Be aware of body posture. Been slumped over the back of a chair or standing with your hands in your pockets will not help your delivery.
